The Shelton Senior Center is hosting its annual summertime senior dances at the Rotary Pavilion on the Riverwalk at Canal and Cornell streets in Shelton. Dances are Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m., Aug. 7, 14, 21, 28, and Sept. 4. Vinnie Carr will play a mixture of line and ballroom dances. Parking and rest rooms are available. Bring a lawn chair. Down by the River Festival

September 6 @ 7:30 am

Features the Bike for Hope, music, a chili cook-off, beer garden, arts and crafts vendors and family activities at Veterans Memorial Park (the Riverwalk). Raises funds for MovingWithHope, a non-profit organization that helps survivors of brain and spinal cord injuries and diseases. Bike ride starts at 7:30. Cost is $35, which includes an event T-shirt.
