Open gym, guitar lessons and more in this week’s Rec Notes

The Shelton Parks and Recreation Department offers classes at the Community Center, 41 Church Street. Pre-register in person; cash or check. Information: 203-925-8422.

 

Adult open gym basketball — Held during the fall and winter months on Sunday mornings, 9-11:30, through March 31 at the Shelton High School gym, 120 Meadow Street. Cost is $40. After Feb. 1, cost is $25.

Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age and be a Shelton resident or a full time worker in Shelton to qualify to play. Participants must register at the Shelton Parks and Recreation Department. Participants must show their membership ID at the gym each week. This is an adult program and players are asked not to bring children. Basketballs will be provided.

Guitar II — Wednesdays, beginning Jan. 30, eight weeks, $80. Times: ages 8-13, 6:30-7:25 p.m.; ages 14 and older, 7:30–8:30 p.m.

 

Tai Chi — Thursdays, beginning Jan. 31, eight weeks, $45. Beginners, 7:05-8:05 p.m., no experience needed. Intermediate class at 8:05-9:05 p.m.; must have had beginner class.

 

Pottery — Thursdays, 6:30–9 p.m., starting Jan. 31, eight weeks, $80 check or cash, plus $20 to instructor for supplies.

 

Boot Camp — Wednesdays, 7:30-8:30 p.m., Feb. 6, Wednesdays, eight weeks, $45.

 

Flow Yoga — Prior yoga experience required, for class Saturdays, 9-10 a.m., starting Feb. 9, 10 weeks, $56.

 

Pottery — Mondays, 6:30-9 p.m., starting Feb. 11, eight weeks, $80 check or cash, and $20 to instructor for supplies. No class Feb. 18.

 

Zumba — Mondays, 7:30-8:30 p.m., beginning Feb. 11, eight weeks, $45. No class Feb. 18.

 

Adult Drawing and Oil or Water Painting Class — Tuesdays, 6:30–8:30 p.m., starting Feb. 19, six weeks, $65.

 

Flow Yoga — Prior yoga experience required for class Wednesdays, 10-11 a.m., starting Feb. 20, 10 weeks, $56.

 

Iyengar Yoga — Prior yoga experience required for class Mondays, 5:30-6:30 p.m., starting Feb. 25, 10 weeks, $56.
