Break dancing, pilates and more in this week’s Rec Notes

The Shelton Parks and Recreation Department offers classes at the Community Center, 41 Church Street. Pre-register in person; cash or check. Information: 203-925-8422.

 

Adult open gym basketball — Held during the fall and winter months on Sunday mornings, 9-11:30, through March 31 at the Shelton High School gym, 120 Meadow Street. Cost is $40. After Feb. 1, cost is $25.

Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age and be a Shelton resident or a full time worker in Shelton to qualify to play. Participants must register at the Shelton Parks and Recreation Department. Participants must show their membership ID at the gym each week. This is an adult program and players are asked not to bring children. Basketballs will be provided.

 

Hip Hop Break Dance — Thursdays, starting Jan. 18, 6-7 p.m., four weeks, $52.

 

Pilates — Saturdays, 8-9 a.m., starting Jan. 19, eight weeks, $45.

 

Zumba Gold — Tuesdays, 6-7 p.m., beginning Jan. 22, eight weeks, $45. No class Feb. 12.

Pilates — Tuesdays, 7:15–8:15 p.m., begining Jan. 29, eight weeks, $45. No class Feb. 12.

 

Tai Chi — Thursdays, beginning Jan, 31, eight weeks, $45. Beginners, 7:05-8:05 p.m., no experience needed. Intermediate class at 8:05-9:05 p.m.; must have had beginner class.
