Brandon Guittard earns Eagle honor

GuittardBrandon James Guittard of Troop 28, the 14-year-old son of James and Toni-Lynn of Shelton, celebrated his Eagle Court of Honor at Huntington United Methodist Church.

Brandon began scouting with Booth Hill School’s Pack 24 where he earned the religious award, Parvuli Dei and the highest Cub Scout award, the Arrow of Light. Bridging over to Boy Scouts in 2009, Brandon chose Troop 28. His goal was to become the first father/son Eagle Scout in that troop, which he achieved this past spring.

Brandon’s Eagle Scout service project was for Bridgeport Hospital’s Pediatric Ward. He chose this project because he wanted to make an impact in children’s lives. Brandon planned, advertised and organized a book drive. He led 31 scouts and other volunteers to collect more than 5,000 books.

Brandon is currently a freshman at Shelton High School where he plays for the freshman football team. This fall he volunteered his time coaching younger boys on the Dolphins Shelton Flag Football team. Brandon has a total of 31 merit badges and has since earned his first Eagle palm.
