New downtown bar should open this week in Shelton

Bricks & Barley, a new downtown bar that will fill the spot left vacant by Downtown Danny O’s, is expected to open its doors to the public on Thursday.

The name of new establishment at 441 Howe Ave. was selected after a contest involving the public.

Bricks & Barley should be open seven days a week, offering food and drink. The new owners have made renovations on the inside, but kept the original wooden bar that dates back many decades.

One of the co-owners is Chris Jones of Shelton, who is well known in the community as a volunteer firefighter, former alderman, and two-time mayoral candidate.

Downtown Danny O’s closed in late February after 13 years in business.
