More fall events to enjoy

To the Editor:

Last week, I shared several fun and exciting fairs and festivals taking place in our community this fall. After receiving a great response from readers, I wanted to share two additional events for you and your family to enjoy.

This Sunday, Sept. 23, the Nutmegger Cheese and Wine Festival will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at the Jones Family Farm in Shelton. Hosted by the Working Lands Alliance, the event will raise funds to help protect Connecticut’s farmland and support improved childhood nutrition. Featuring some of our state’s best cheeses and wines, the event will also provide an opportunity to tour the vineyard, take a hayride and learn more about cheesemaking. Tickets sold at the festival will be $55 for adults and $10 for children. To save $5, purchase tickets ahead of time at www.workinglandsalliance.org .

On Saturday, Oct. 20, the Great Pumpkin Festival will be held from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Boothe Memorial Park in Stratford. The annual event is an excellent opportunity for families to enjoy pumpkin carving, a costume parade, music, games, hayrides, crafts and more. Admission is free. To learn more about the festival, please visit www.celebratestratford.com.

These are just two more great examples of how our families can enjoy autumn together. I would also like to thank everyone for their responses to my column.
