Beardsley’s Cider Mill & Orchard, LLC will host their seventh annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand at the cider mill this Saturday, Sept. 8 and Sunday, Sept. 9, 10 a.m. until 5:30 pm.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is a not-for-profit organization that has evolved from a young cancer patient’s front yard lemonade stand to a nationwide fund-raising movement for childhood cancer. It started when young cancer patient, Alexandra “Alex” Scott, started hosting an lemonade stand to raise money for childhood cancer research.
Following her example, thousands of lemonade stands have been set up across the country by children, schools, businesses and organizations, all to benefit ALSF. To date, her national campaign has raised over $55 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure — funding over 250 research projects.
Alex passed away in 2004. Her giving spirit remains the driving force behind the foundation she established. ALSF supports childhood cancer research with a focus on improving the availability of new treatments for children currently undergoing treatments.
By hosting an Alex’s Lemonade Stand at Beardsley’s Cider Mill, the hope is to attract the attention of our community so everyone will come out and enjoy some lemonade, find out more about ALSF, and make a donation.
Beardsley’s Cider Mill & Orchard will also offer fresh pressed cider, apples, cider donuts, cookies, local honey, maple syrup and maple candy, jams and jellies, fruit butters, pumpkin cheesecake, farm-baked pies and unique gifts.
During this special weekend, 100% of the lemonade donations and a portion of the Cider Mill’s profits for the weekend will be sent
directly to ALSF.
