Rapids compete in CSI Open Water Championship

The Shelton Monroe Rapids swim team participated in the 2012 CSI Open Water Championship that was held at Lake Quassapaug in Middlebury on June 30.

The championship was a one-mile open-water swim, referred to as the “mad mile.”

It was held to honor Dave Parcells.

Reid Chavez, age 11, placed second overall in the 11/12 boys age category with a time of 23:14.

For the 13/14 boys, Michael Riina, age 13, placed second with a time of 22:06 and Jack Wise, age 14, placed sixth with a time of 23:28.

Sabrina Romansky, age 13, finished 18th overall for the 13/14 girls with a time of 25:26.

In the 15/16 year old age category, Kyle Barber, age 16, placed 11th overall with a time of 22:41.
