Low-cost spay/neuter clinic opening for cats and dogs

Nutmeg Spay/Neuter Clinic, the first low-cost spay/neuter clinic for cats and dogs in Fairfield County, opened its doors in Stratford on Aug. 27.

The clinic, a program of FeralCare Inc., is located on 25 Charles St., just off Lordship Boulevard and will service residents and their pets throughout the state and beyond.

Nutmeg will service cats and dogs for everyone, including low-income families: Cats, male and female, can be spayed/neutered for $65; dogs, depending on their size, can be spayed/neutered from $150 to $250.

Vaccines for rabies, distemper, bordetella are also offered at a discount as are a variety of tests for diseases like heartworm and feline leukemia. Nutmeg will also aid rescue groups who perform trap/neuter/return of feral-cat colonies by offering a deeply discounted feral cat package.
