Police win Legion award

The Shelton Police Department has received the annual Police Department of the Year Award from the American Legion.

The award is given by the American Legion to a police department based upon performance in the fields of children and youth, drug education, community awareness projects. and participation in patriotic observances. The Shelton Police Department was nominated by Sutter-Terlizzi Post 16 in Shelton.

The award was presented to Police Chief Joel Hurliman during the legion outing at Post 16. The award is based on all the various community service projects done by members of the department throughout the year.
