Irma A. Stempel

Irma A. Stempel, 99, of Shelton, formerly of Fairfield, and beloved wife of the late Andrew S. Stempel, passed away on August 21, 2012 at Bishop Wicke Health Center.

Born on November 17, 1912 in Munhall, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Eva Skutel.

Mrs. Stempel was a 63 year member of Mill River Country Club.

Survivors include her beloved children, Dorothy Scinto and Andrea Borgognone of Shelton, Andrew (Chuck) Stempel, Jr. and his wife, Michelle, of New Freedom, PA, Cynthia Walus and her husband, Tim, of Liverpool, NY; cherished grandchildren, Diane (Fred) Scinto, Paul (Karen) Scinto, Laura Scinto, Deborah (Bob) Turtoro, Peter (Brenda) Borgognone, Keith (Kristen) Borgognone, and Kaitlyn Stempel; great-grandchildren, Steven and Michelle Scinto, Frederick Scinto, Tyler and Spencer Turtoro, Teirryn Borgognone, Brett and Brynn Borgognone. Mrs. Stempel is also survived by her brother, John (Yvette) Skutel; sister-in-law, Wilma Lentz; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sons-in-law, Frederick Scinto and Peter Borgognone; four sisters; and two brothers.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Avenue, Shelton followed by burial at St. Thomas Cemetery, Fairfield. There will be no calling hours.

The family wishes to acknowledge the staff at Bishop Wicke Health Care, Pavilion 3 and Vitas Hospice for the kindness and compassion Irma received during her illness.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford.
