Rec Notes: Softball, Zumba and more

The Shelton Parks and Recreation Department offers classes at the Community Center, 41 Church Street. Pre-register in person; cash or check. After a class has started, people may still sign up. Information: 203-331-4120.

Open Lacrosse — For Shelton boys in grade eight and older. The program will be on Friday evenings from 5:30-8, through Aug. 22, at the Stowe Drive lacrosse fields. No program on July 4. Play will be non-contact, non-instructional. There is no fee, but those attending must have their own equipment and register at the field with Stefan Kim, the program coordinator.

Women’s Softball League — League play is Monday and Wednesday evenings July and August. The league entry fee is approximately $200. For information on eligibility requirements, call Jim Mastrony at 203-925-8422 or email j.mastrony@cityofshelton.org.

Youth and Adult Tennis — Lessons Monday through Thursday, $80 per session. Session 1, has started, Session 2, July 23-Aug. 2; Munchkin Tennis (for those entering kindergarten or first grade), 2-2:45 p.m.; Youth Tennis (for those entering grades 2 through 5), 3-4 p.m.; Junior-Adults Tennis (for those entering grades 6–12 and adults), 4-5 p.m.

Pilates — Wednesdays, 6-7 p.m., starting July 11, eight weeks for $45.

Pilates — Thursdays, 7:15–8:15 p.m., starting July 12, eight weeks, $45.

Zumba Gold — Thursdays, 6-7 p.m., starting July 12; eight weeks, $45.

Pottery — Thursdays, 6:30–9 p.m., starting July 12, eight weeks, $80, plus $20 to instructor for supplies.

Pilates — Saturdays, 8-9 a.m., beginning July 14, eight weeks, $45.

Lego Camp — Monday through Friday, July 16-20, five days, $140. Times for ages 5-7 are 9-12 p.m., and ages 8-10 are 1-4 p.m.

Youth Drawing — Tuesdays, beginning July 17, six weeks, $60. Times: Ages 6-9, 10-11 a.m., ages 10-13 at 11-12 p.m.

Zumba Gold — Tuesdays, 6-7 p.m., beginning July 17; eight weeks, $45.

Kids Crafts — Tuesdays, 9-10 a.m., beginning July 17; six weeks, $45.

Co-ed ‘Mat Time’ — Wrestling camp for ages 6 to 18 years old at Shelton High School, 120 Meadow Street, Monday through Thursday July 23-26. There will be morning (8:30-11:30) and afternoon (noon to 3) sessions with the option to attend both. Tuition is $95 per session or $175 for both. Registration forms are available at the community center or Blanchettes Sporting Goods, 425 Bridgeport Avenue.
