Name of Shelton infant who died is released

The name of the 2-month-old infant who died an untimely death in a Howe Avenue residence on Monday has been released.

FI-Shelton-PoliceShelton police detectives, with assistance from the State Medical Examiner’s Office and state Department of Children and Families, are still conducting an investigation into the death of 2-month-old Caleb Strovers.

“The family is cooperating with police,” according to a Shelton Police Department press release issued Tuesday morning. “The cause of death has not yet been determined.”

Police investigate death of 2-month-old boy at Howe Avenue residence

Shelton police are investigating what is being called the “untimely death” of an infant at a downtown Shelton residence Monday morning.

On March 11 at about 7:30 a.m., the Shelton Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from a mother who stated that her 2-month-old son was not breathing. Shelton police and EMS immediately responded to the downtown Howe Avenue residence.

The infant was taken to the hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead, according to a police press release.

The scene was secured by police, and members of the Shelton Detective Bureau responded to the scene to investigate the child’s death.

The incident is under investigation by detectives, with assistance by the State Medical Examiner’s Office and the Department of Children and Families.

  1. Why is this news? Okay, so the police are doing their job, and making sure that this infant’s death was indeed an accident. But why must this lazy newspaper feel the need to release the name of the child, so the family has to deal with even more stress than they are already under? Why is this your business? Is there really nothing else you can report on?

    Really? This is lazy journalism based off nothing. Find some actual news to report instead of putting judgement on people.

  2. To imply that the intensely grieving family may be at fault is disgusting and cynical [expletive]. I know the family personally, and the results of this loss have brought catastrophic levels of misery on a beautiful, loving family.

    If this is the kind of reporting you’re doing, then I will gladly look elsewhere for more quality reporting.
